Candle Care: How to Love Your Candle Well

A good candle deserves a little intention.

Not a lot. Just enough to let it do what it was made to do — fill your space, shift your mood, and burn beautifully every single time.

Here’s how to take care of yours:

The First Burn is Everything

Always let your candle burn long enough for the wax to melt all the way to the edges on the first use. This is called the memory burn, and it prevents tunneling — that hollow crater that forms when a candle is extinguished too soon. Plan for two to four hours on that first light.

Trim Your Wick

Before every burn, trim your wick to about a quarter inch. It keeps the flame steady, the smoke minimal, and the scent clean. A long wick is the reason candles get sooty and burn unevenly. A simple wick trimmer works, or nail clippers in a pinch.

Don’t Burn It All the Way Down

Leave about half an inch of wax at the bottom. Burning past that point can cause the vessel to overheat. Plus that vessel is too pretty to ruin. Repurpose it when you’re done.

Keep It Away From Drafts

Wind, fans, and vents make flames flicker and wax burn unevenly. Find your candle a calm spot and let it settle.

Store It With Care

Keep your candle away from direct sunlight and heat. Coconut soy wax is sensitive to temperature changes, and your scent will last longer in a cool, stable space.
These candles were made slowly and with purpose. A little care on your end means more hours of that scent you love.

Burn intentionally. Burn beautifully.
